Border Forest Holiday Park

A Greener Way to Experience Northumberland

Border Forest Caravan Park is about more than simply finding somewhere to stay — it’s about getting closer to nature and enjoying the peace, space and spectacular landscapes of rural Northumberland.

The park has a strong focus on nature, ecology and sustainable tourism, with a genuine commitment to reducing its environmental impact. Recently installed, substantial solar panel and battery storage systems now provide the majority of the park’s electricity, helping to make your stay considerably greener while harnessing the natural energy of the surrounding landscape.

This is a place where you can truly switch off. There are no shops, restaurants, pubs or cafés in close proximity, so Border Forest is not about convenience on your doorstep. Instead, it offers something increasingly precious — tranquillity, clean air, wildlife, open countryside and the opportunity to escape the constant noise and activity of modern life.

We are a wonderful destination for dogs and their owners, with miles of beautiful countryside and woodland walks waiting to be explored right from the doorstep. There’s plenty of space to enjoy a relaxed stroll, energetic hike or peaceful morning walk surrounded by nature.

From quiet forest tracks and open countryside to the spectacular landscapes around Kielder Forest, there are walks to suit every ability — and plenty of interesting sights, sounds and scents to keep four-legged visitors happy.

And when night falls, the experience becomes even more special. Border Forest sits close to Kielder Forest and its internationally recognised Dark Sky Park, one of the best places in England for stargazing. With very little light pollution, clear nights can reveal an extraordinary display of stars, planets and the Milky Way.

Whether you spend your days walking, cycling, watching wildlife or simply relaxing outdoors, Border Forest Caravan Park offers a chance to experience Northumberland at its most natural — quiet, wild, sustainable and wonderfully dark after sunset.

My honest review of this site is that it’s a little bit tired but also has a natural beauty. It’s set in beautiful surroundings in the middle of nowhere- excellent for watching the stars at night. Facilities on site include a kitchen room with microwave, dishwasher area, games and books and a Dyson hoover hung on the wall! Also male and female toilet and shower blocks that had everything you need and although a bit tired they were very clean on our visit. Friendly staff on hand for arrival and departure. £10 refundable deposit for a gate fob so you can come and go as you please. Pigs buy the entrance provided entertainment for the kids as well as chickens walking around and a little stream and grass area to explore. Ideal location for hopping across the border into Scotland for the day.

Beautiful site with stunning views and a wilderness to walk your dog. Plenty opportunities to let your dog off lead away from any hazards. Beautiful river to enjoy or fish etc. Site has all the necessary amenities and is clean and well maintained. I tend to go there for New Year and it can get very cold, icy and has had snow last year too. Only thing to mention is that the water supply to the touring area freezes so is switched off in winter months, water can be obtained from top of site. I have a motorhome so just took a drive up when I needed to fill up, just be prepared for this, however, it is not a hardship at all. Owners are so lovely and nothing is a bother to them. Site is approx 14 miles from Keilder and approx 16 miles from Jedburgh.
